Morris College’s Hornet’s Nest reopening after renovations

September 17, 2019 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

SUMTER, S.C. (courtesy theitem.com) — A newly-renovated Hornet’s Nest celebrated its grand reopening celebration on Aug. 23. The former pizza operation will serve an array of selections for dine in or take out, including burgers, subs, pizza, chicken fingers, wings and sweet potato fries, according to a news release. Coca-Cola products will include soda, lemonade, tea and water, and there is seating for up to 100 where students can also watch TV or play pool.

“We started renovating in November 2018 while students were still on campus,” said Cassandra Garner, food service director for Aladdin, which is managing the food and is celebrating its one-year anniversary as the official dining partner of Morris College.

Renovations included the addition of Aladdin signature stations, including Grill Works and Show Time exhibition cooking, according to the news release. A deli, condiment, dessert, waffle and a new beverage station were also added to the delight of the students.

Other renovations include the cafeteria’s front of the house to provide new dining stations and to streamline the serving process.
