Limestone professor to be featured on S.C. Educational Television (SCETV)

September 17, 2019 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

GAFFNEY, S.C. (courtesy limestone.edu) — Limestone Professor Dr. Alex Richardson, chair of the College’s Department of English & Communications, will soon appear on the series “By The River” that airs on the South Carolina Educational Television.

The Communication Studies program at the University of South Carolina Beaufort has partnered with South Carolina Educational Television to produce the show that focuses on South Carolina & Southern authors.

At the end of each episode, the show airs the “Poet’s Corner,” and Richardson and his poetry will be highlighted on episodes this fall. The show’s producers invited Richardson to pre-record audio of two of his poems that will be aired at the end of upcoming episodes, and those will be coupled with illustrations by a local artist.

The exact dates and times of the shows that will feature Richardson’s poetry will be announced soon.

Richardson’s poetry has been published in a variety of literary journals including “Rattle,” “Barrow Street,” “Free Lunch,” “The Southeast Review,” “POEM,” and dozens of others, and in the anthologies, “A Millennial Sampler of South Carolina Poetry” and “The Southern Poetry Anthology.” His book, “Porch Night on Walnut Street,” was published by Plainview Press.

In 2009, he was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Award, through which he taught courses in American culture at the University of Madeira, Portugal. He teaches creative writing, literature, film, and composition courses at Limestone.

Richardson earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in English at the University of South Carolina, and his doctoral degree in English from the University of Southern Mississippi.
