SPARTANBURG, S.C. (courtesy converse.edu) — It’s a new year – a new semester – and I’m so excited to see what we will accomplish together in the coming months.
At the start of the Fall 2022 term, we announced Converse’s three-year Strategic Vision Plan that will align the university’s actions, energy, and resources.
While this plan doesn’t launch until fall 2023, we are already hard at work with initiatives that connect with the plan’s foundational priorities, which include:
- Remaining relentlessly student-centered,
- Building financial resilience,
- Promoting health and well-being, and
- Committing to inclusive excellence.
A great example of a project that will bolster several of these priorities is the Cudd Hall renovation. This $3.5 million project will create a living and learning space by providing a collaborative environment for students to thrive both academically and socially.
Student success is at the center of everything we do. Support from alumni and friends, like you, are propelling us forward on this vibrant new path.
The Montgomery pool, is a space not only used by our campus and the Upstate community, but also by our NCAA Division II women’s and men’s swim team – which is being led by our new head coach, Logan Simpson.
Valkyries Athletics is a great example of our commitment to co-curricular programs. Supporting dynamic enrichment activities not only advances the mission of the university but also strengthens a student’s academic performance and supports their interpersonal development.
Last year, Converse received a $2 million commitment from the Milliken and Company Charitable Foundation–a tremendous gift which will help launch phase one of a $7 million renovation project and breathe new life into the Milliken Fine Arts Building.
Updating classrooms, like the painting studio, not only addresses the needs of our growing student body but also provides our faculty with the tools, resources, and space needed to be successful. It is our faculty’s steadfast commitment to providing mentorship, experiential learning, and academic support that makes Converse so special.
With your unwavering commitment, we can continue enriching our programs, empowering our people, and enhancing our places. Whether it’s by supporting a capital project, an endowed fund or the Converse Annual Fund, your generosity today empowers students to confidently take on the future.
Together, we will continue pursuing our vision of providing students with a rich educational experience that ignites creativity, innovation, and transformation.
