DENMARK, S.C. (courtesy voorhees.edu) — Voorhees University’s School of Science, Technology, Health, and Human Services proudly announces the introduction of the VU 10 White Coats Scholar Club. Established during Spring 2024, the club sets forth its mission to provide academic and career mentorship in medicine and other national and international healthcare organizations, aiming to empower STEM students through scholarly activities, site visits to Medical Universities, and other relevant engagements.
Led by Dr. Zhabiz Golkar, professor and dean of the School of Science, Technology, Health, and Human Services, the club marks an exciting venture towards fostering the academic and professional growth of its members. Dr. Golkar expresses enthusiasm in guiding the first cohort through a direct mentorship program, facilitating personal development, offering guided Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and Dental Admission Test (DAT) preparation, and ensuring the readiness and visibility of student scholars upon graduation.
Membership in the VU 10 White Coats Scholar Club is contingent upon maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or above, demonstrating leadership and resilience, and active participation in all club activities and meetings throughout each academic year.
In an ambitious endeavor to support its members’ aspirations, the VU 10 White Coats Scholars initiative seeks sponsorship from 10 physicians in the state of South Carolina, aiming to provide invaluable opportunities and resources for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
