DENMARK, S.C. (courtesy voorhees.edu) —Voorhees University proudly announces the establishment of the Voorhees University Nonviolent Task Force under the auspices of the Becoming Beloved Community Foundation. This initiative brings together local law enforcement representatives from Bamberg, Barnwell, and Allendale Counties, with the Director of Orangeburg Public Safety Charles P. Austin serving as an advisor.
The primary objective of the task force is to explore effective strategies for reducing crime in our local communities. “We are elated to initiate the steps needed to join forces in our community and proud to be the catalyst used to bring our communities together to establish it,” said Voorhees President Dr. Ronnie Hopkins.
The task force is at the beginning stage of its development and will be crafting its goals and objectives in the coming weeks and months.
President Hopkins has spearheaded efforts to develop the Becoming Beloved Community Foundation in collaboration with community constituents. This platform at Voorhees University encompasses the following major tenets: Center for Women’s Empowerment and Advancement, Rural Community Development Institute, Institute for Social and Environmental Justice, Diversity, and Inclusion
