SCICU Unveils a New Look: A Symbol of South Carolina’s Spirit and Knowledge

South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) is excited to share a fresh new logo and branding, capturing the essence of South Carolina and the heart of our mission in higher education.

Each element of our new logo tells a part of our story. The waves and mountains symbolize the full reach of our member institutions, from the peaks of the Upstate to the shores of the Lowcountry, representing the rich geographic and cultural diversity among the faculty, staff, alumni, and students across South Carolina. The Crescent Moon is a nod to our state flag and the pride we share in South Carolina’s heritage. The Torch of Knowledge represents the light of learning and the transformative power of education.

Together, these symbols reflect SCICU’s mission to strengthen South Carolina’s independent colleges and universities through collaboration, governmental advocacy, fundraising, and public engagement so that every student may choose, afford, and earn an independent college education that fits their personal values, professional and social aspirations, and approach to learning.

For more than seventy-two years, SCICU has worked to ensure that every student in South Carolina can choose, afford, and thrive at an independent college that fits their goals and values.

We are especially grateful to the Council of Independent Colleges for their generous grant, which made this rebranding possible and Infinity Marketing for their exceptional design that helped us bring the spirit of SCICU to life in a new and meaningful way.

Our new logo is more than a fresh design; it reflects our state’s diversity, our shared mission, and our ongoing commitment to education that changes lives. As we roll out this new look, we hope it inspires pride across our member institutions, their communities, and our trustees and supporters. Most of all, we hope this new logo will serve as a reminder that education remains one of South Carolina’s greatest sources of light, opportunity, and hope for the future.
