SCICU January 2024 Infographics – 21 member institutions, 36,000+ students strong; supporting Tuition Grants

January 24, 2024 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

COLUMBIA, S.C. — SCICU kicked off its 2024 infographics for members of the S.C. General Assembly with two messages in January:

  • SCICU’s 21 member colleges and universities educate and inspire more than 36,000 students through South Carolina. Two-thirds of SCICU undergraduate students are South Carolina residents.
  • The S.C. Tuition Grants Program makes the dream of a college education come true for more than 12,000 South Carolinians. Nearly 40 percent of students at SCICU member colleges and universities benefit from S.C. Tuition Grants.

“More than 20 percent of the members of the S.C. House were sworn in for their first term in January 2023,” said Jeff Perez, SCICU president and CEO. “Having that many new faces in the House makes it important for SCICU to continue educating representatives on the contributions and importance of private education to the growth of South Carolina. We also followed up after the House Ways and Means Higher Education Budget Subcommittee with an infographic celebrating the importance of Tuition Grants to the thousands of South Carolina resident students who choose to stay in-state and attend private colleges and universities.”
