Presbyterian College earns fourth consecutive Tree Campus USA distinction

January 12, 2020 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

CLINTON, S.C. (courtesy presby.edu) — PC was one of only seven colleges and universities in South Carolina to be named a Tree Campus USA School by the Arbor Day Foundation in 2019. This year marks the fourth consecutive year PC has earned the recognition. The College has earned the distinction five of the last six years.

The Arbor Day Foundation program honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.

To obtain this distinction, PC met the five core standards for sustainable campus forestry required by Tree Campus USA. These standards include:

  • The establishment of a tree advisory committee
  • Evidence of a campus tree-care plan
  • Dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program
  • An Arbor Day observance
