Morris students to return to campus for 2021 spring semester

November 20, 2020 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

Message from Morris College President Leroy Staggers

After much discussion and planning over the past few weeks, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Morris College will welcome students back to campus for the Spring 2021 semester. Residence halls will open for new and continuing students beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, with the clearance of student accounts and the issuing of registration permits to start on this same date. Registration will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2021, with classes to begin on Friday, January 22, 2021.

In making the decision for students to return to campus, the college has been in constant consultation with major public agencies as well as our colleagues in the higher education community for guidance as to the best means to insure the health and safety of the entire Morris College family. Therefore, procedures are being put into place for administering regular temperature checks and COVID-19 testing, as well as for the enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of facilities. Protective equipment and supplies such as plexiglass, sneeze guards, and hand sanitizer is also being placed in buildings throughout the campus to allow for them to be used safely. Rules and procedures related to social distancing, the wearing of face masks, and the handling of persons who display symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive for the virus will be in place to make our interaction with one another as safe as possible. The health and safety of the college community is a shared responsibility. Therefore, it is absolutely critical to have 100% compliance with these measures so as to avoid the spread of infection and the need to discontinue on-campus activity.

The administration, faculty, and staff very much look forward to the return of our students. If we all work together in the true Morris spirit, we will emerge from the current pandemic better and stronger.

Onward and Upward With Hornet Pride,
Dr. Leroy Staggers
President, Morris College
