Morris alumnus and board member present $200,000 gift to college

January 15, 2022 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

SUMTER, S.C. (courtesy morris.edu) — Dr. James Vinson (Ted) Wilson, Sr., Morris alumnus and board member, presented $200,000 from his family during the last in-person board meeting of 2021. Dr. Wilson gave the gift as continuing appreciation for Morris College. He hopes his gift will inspire others to give back to his alma mater. Dr. Wilson is the founder and CEO of Sumter-headquartered Universal Benefits Marketing Firm, Inc. (UBI), a former educator, a well-known philanthropist, and family man. The Wilson family has consistently been a strong supporter of education and community involvement.

“We are delighted to receive another generous donation from Dr. Wilson. These funds will continue to impact our students in tremendous ways,” said Morris President Leroy Staggers. “We have been successful in implementing a successful curriculum that has prepared our students for many different avenues and we want to be able to continue to do that for years to come.”
