First Citizens Bank Donates $25,000 to Support South Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities

Columbia, S.C. — South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) is pleased to announce a $25,000 investment from First Citizens Bank in support of the Student Lifeline Grants Program. This renewed commitment significantly expands the program’s ability to provide emergency financial assistance to students attending South Carolina’s private colleges and universities.

Student Lifeline Grants help bridge short-term financial gaps that could otherwise force students to pause or discontinue their education. These funds support needs such as unexpected medical bills, transportation challenges, food insecurity, and other urgent personal or academic expenses. By covering these essential expenses, the grants offer students a lifeline in their times of greatest need.

“We are deeply grateful to First Citizens for their generous investment in South Carolina’s independent colleges and universities. This gift not only strengthens our mission but also affirms the vital role private higher education plays in shaping the future of our state. Their commitment to student success and community impact is truly inspiring,” said SCICU President Robert Lloyd.

First Citizens Bank has a long-standing tradition of investing in education and empowering students to succeed. Through this donation, they reaffirm their commitment to building stronger communities and enabling young people to achieve their full potential.

“First Citizens Bank is honored to continue its partnership with South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, through support of its Student Lifeline Grants Program,” said Kevin Lindler, Area Executive at First Citizens Bank. “This important initiative provides critical assistance to students facing unforeseen financial hardships, helping them remain on track to achieve their educational goals. Our continued support reflects our bank’s commitment to strengthening our communities and investing in the future of higher education across South Carolina.”

First Citizens Bank has been a valued partner in advancing SCICU’s mission for many years. This increased investment enhances our member institutions’ ability to support students facing unexpected challenges and keep them on track toward graduation.
