COLUMBIA, S.C. (courtesy columbiasc.edu) — President Tom Bogart is proud to announce the appointment of alumna Dr. Ruby Fielding as the next vice president for finance and administration at Columbia College. Dr. Fielding has over 20 years of experience in finance and administration, including specific experience in higher education after serving the College of Charleston and, most recently, Allen University. While serving as vice president for fiscal affairs/chief financial officer for Allen, she worked to realign the campus to improve technological focus, financial standing, and overall campus life.
Dr. Bogart noted, “As soon as I met Dr. Fielding, I knew she was a fit for Columbia College. She has the experience to facilitate a seamless transition and the energy to empower continued growth for the college. As a community, we look forward to her positive influence fueled by her passion for higher education.”
In addition to her accolades over her career, Dr. Fielding serves as an evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the regional body for the accreditation of higher education institutions in the Southern states. She serves as a member of the board for the Penn Center, an African American cultural and educational center, volunteers as a student advisor and tutor at Allen, and shares her time and talents with her local and state-wide communities in various other capacities. It is clear that Dr. Fielding’s passion for service has and will continue to inspire many during her time with Columbia College.
“I’m excited to rejoin the legacy of excellence and impact at Columbia College. The potential is endless for an institution with enthusiastic and compassionate leadership. As an alumna, I am thrilled to return home to be a part of my beloved alma mater’s unparalleled history and tradition,” said Dr. Fielding.
Dr. Fielding will assume the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration on September 26, 2022.
