CIU professor answers question: “What languages did Jesus speak?”

March 15, 2021 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

COLUMBIA, S.C. (courtesy ciu.edu) — There are several views about which language Jesus spoke. Some people believe he spoke primarily Hebrew, with others arguing it was primarily Greek or Aramaic. Actually, Columbia International University New Testament Professor Dr. David Croteau says the correct question is: what languages did Jesus speak?

In a recent article, Croteau makes the case that Jesus, like many Jews in biblical times, likely was bilingual, and perhaps able to speak as many as four languages.
