Charleston Southern Spring commencement set for May 7 at North Charleston Coliseum

March 19, 2022 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

CHARLESTON, S.C. (courtesy charlestonsouthern.edu) — For the first time in three years, Charleston Southern University will host its traditional commencement ceremony at the North Charleston Coliseum. More than 750 students will graduate and approximately 550 are expected to participate on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 10 a.m.

In 2020, CSU held a virtual graduation as well as an in-person diploma pick-up opportunity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, the university celebrated the Class of 2021 and the Class of 2020 with two commencement ceremonies on Buccaneer Field. Seating space and COVID precautions limited the number of guests the university could safely host.

This year, however, CSU plans a more normal experience at a larger venue, which will not require admission tickets. Students will be able to invite all their family members and friends to join in this celebration!

The event will be live streamed and also available for download following the ceremony at charlestonsouthern.edu/2022-graduation. Individual photos may be purchased from GradImages. Graduates will be contacted following the ceremony via the information on file with the Office of the Registrar.

More information regarding caps and gowns, rehearsal, parking, and attire will be emailed to graduates in the coming days and weeks. Students should read all emails from the registrar and Slingshot in order to stay updated on next steps. Other graduation events include:

Nursing Pinning Ceremony – Lightsey Chapel – Thursday, May 5 at 2 p.m.
Spring Commencement Rehearsal – Lightsey Chapel – Friday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m.
College of Education Graduate Programs Commencement – Lightsey Chapel – Friday, May 6 at 5 p.m.
