Charleston Southern nursing student publishes Christmas book

November 14, 2021 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

CHARLESTON, S.C. (courtesy charlestonsouthern.edu) — For the plethora of individuals who have bought one of over six million copies of The Polar Express since 1986, the traditional and nostalgic telling of Christmas books are the core factors that truly keep the spirit of Christmas thriving through generational ages. Though The Polar Express, A Christmas Carol, or even The Christmas Miracle, are prime representations of priceless literature, Charleston Southern University senior Madison Brasher authentically pours her heart into her newly released Christian-based Christmas story targeting a young audience. Less than two months away from the most celebrated holiday in the United States, Brasher’s release of The Ultimate Gift enacts the biblical verse, “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift” (2 Corinthians 9:15).

Raised in the upstate of South Carolina, Brasher is happy to call Boiling Springs her hometown where her fondest memories growing up derive from the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birthday. As a current nursing major with a minor in public health, Brasher’s natural inclination towards literature, reading, and writing gave her the idea for this new children’s book. Brasher’s inspiration stems from a place of nostalgia and religious belief.

“I love Christmas, and I have always wanted to tie together the magic of Christmas without losing sight of the real reason for Christmas,” Brasher said.

Currently available on Amazon, or maybe even a couple copies in her bookbag (if you are a lucky Buccaneer), The Ultimate Gift details that, “Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the magic of Christmas, but what is the true reason for the season? Come along as Santa and his elves remind us of the ultimate gift that we have been given.”

Though Brasher has tossed around a few ideas for future books, she is concentrating on graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the spring. If you are looking for the perfect stocking stuffer, a welcome home gift for one’s Elf on the Shelf, or even a family-friendly book that recounts the cherished biblical verse from Matthew 1, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins,” The Ultimate Gift is the star on top of the tree.
