Call for the end of racial inequity – message from CSU President Dondi Costin

June 7, 2020 by SC Independent Colleges & Universities

CHARLESTON, S.C. (courtesy charlestonsouthern.edu) — The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

As followers of Christ, we know that the Lord is near today to all whose spirits have been crushed by the weight of the sin and heartbreak that we have witnessed this past week. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those affected by the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

God values every human life because everyone is made in His image. As one of the most diverse university populations in South Carolina, Charleston Southern stands with a unified voice to say that we stand with the Lord against all forms of racism, hate, and violence.

Our South Carolina Baptist Convention President, Dr. Gary Hollingsworth, joined other state and national leaders in signing a post on the Baptist Press website about the death of George Floyd and calling for the end of “racial inequity in the distribution of justice in our country.”

We will cover all our brothers and sisters across the nation in prayer and in unity. Our prayer warriors at CSU are available to pray for you at any time. Should you have a specific need, please feel free to share at charlestonsouthern.edu/prayer.

Don’t fear, Buccaneer! May these words from the book of Micah be our anthem: Seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.
