Allen University men’s wrestling team topples Clemson and Florida A&M on same day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (courtesy auyellowjackets.com) — The Allen University Yellow Jackets men’s wrestling team steamrolled both Clemson and Florida Atlantic on Dec. 9 in the Yellow Jackets duals.

In non-conference action, Allen defeated Clemson 34-9 and returned to the mat later in the day to take down Florida A&M 37-8.

Leading Allen in the win over Clemson was Alex Dorce and James Dagin, as they each won by fall in their bouts at 157 and 174 lbs. respectively, while Christian Poplous and Ya’Donnis Hardaway each won by technical fall. Hardaway won 16-1 at 165 lbs. and Poplous won 19-3 at 197.

In the next dual with FAMU, Allen won by forfeit in five weight classes to lead 30-0 before Hardaway won by an 11-0 major decision at 165. Allen freshman heavyweight Chandler Allen then won by an 8-2 decision.

The two wins improved Allen’s overall season record to 5-2.
